He and Anton were twins. They died 11 days apart. Karl took over the søndre Løken farm in 1874 for 2 000 spdl.

Karl married Marie Sofie Rap on 28 Sep 1865 in Askim, Østfold, Norway.1 (Marie Sofie Rap was born in 1839 in Tveta sogn, Värmland, Sweden and died in 1910.)

They also had a stillborn child in 1877.

In the 1865 census they were married and owned and farmed part (49a2) of the Olberg farm in Askim. Carl was 26 and Sophie was 27 years old. There were no children at that time.

In the census for 1900 they owned and farmed the Løken (gnr.54, bnr.8) farm in Askim. With them were two sons and three daughters all unmarried (Anton, Karl, Annette, Magna, Betzy), a young farmhand Paul Mathisen (born 1886 in Askim), and a fosterson Harald Løken (born 1897 in Askim). Harald was the son of Karl's brother Theodor Andreassen Løken. 4 6
