Mathis Andreassen bought the Gudim Nedre farm in Askim from his father in 1857. He was also owner of both Gudim Nedre and Gudim Øvre for a while. He sold Gudim Nedre in 1886 to his son, Anton Mathisen Gudim.

He was living on Gudim when he died in 1905.

In the census for 1865 Mathies and Maren owned and farmed the Gudim nedre (162a1) farm in Askim. They had their first 5 children with them. ^{1 11}

Mattis next married Thora Marie Larsdatter Østereng, daughter of Lars Andreassen Løken and Kirstine Andersdatter Eek, on 13 Nov 1893 in Askim church, Askim, Østfold, Norway.³ (Thora Marie Larsdatter Østereng was born on 15 Apr 1871 in Gudim, Askim, Østfold, Norway, christened on 29 May 1871 in Askim, Østfold, Norway and died in 1951.)
