Erik married Anne Margrethe Syversdatter Lier Søndre, daughter of Syver Gundersen Lier Søndre and Tore Akselsdatter Gjevik, on 23 Sep 1819 in Askim, Østfold, Norway.¹ (Anne Margrethe Syversdatter Lier Søndre was born in 1798 in Kvakkestad, Askim, Østfold, Norway, christened on 18 Mar 1798 and died on 15 Dec 1845.)

When they married it was recorded that Erik was 22 years old and Anne Margrethe was 21.
