The 1865 census shows an Ole Larsen, owner of the Lier søndre 29b farm in Askim. He was 51 years old, born in Askim, and married with Kirstine Larsdatter, 39 years old and born in Askim. Anne Olsdatter, their daughter, was 14 years old. 5

Ole married Marte Jonsdatter Kastdalen, daughter of Jon Kristensen Kastdalen and Johanne Hansdatter Salseng, on 21 Feb 1839 in Askim, Østfold, Norway.1 (Marte Jonsdatter Kastdalen was born on 7 Apr 1815 in Kastdalen, Askim, Østfold, Norway, christened on 16 Apr 1815 in Askim, Østfold, Norway, died on 15 May 1887 in Myra u. øvre Rud, Askim, Østfold, Norway and was buried on 21 May 1887 in Askim, Østfold, Norway.)

When they married they were recorded as ungkarl Ole Larsen Aarnæs, 23¼, and Marthe Jonsd: Aarnæs, 23¾.

Ole was on the Årnes farm, Askim, in 1839 when he married Marte. His son Johan was born there the same year. They were on the ytre Torp farm when their son Laurits was born in 1842 and must have moved to the Vrangen farm shortly before Ole died.

Marte married again, to Hans Jakob Hansen, and moved to Skiptvet. 1
