Elvira ble oppdratt sammen med kong Alfons V.

Hun deltok i sin dronningtid i katedralen sammen med Alfons V, biskopene og rikets herrer i det konsil som i 1020 vedtok det kjente "Fueros de Leon".

Elvira married Alfonso V el Noble of León, son of Vermudo II the Gouty of León and Elvira of Castile, in 1015. (Alfonso V el Noble of León was born in 994 and died on 5 May 1027 in Viseu, Portugal.) The cause of his death was he was killed by an arrow.
