General Notes: Joachim II Hector Hohenzollern, Margrave of Brandenburg, Imperial Elector was born in 1505 and died in 1571. He succeeded his father, Joachim I Nestor, in 1535. Noted events in his life were: • Acceded: Elector of Brandenburg, 1535. Joachim married Magdalene of Saxony Wettin, daughter of George the Bearded of Saxony Wettin and Barbara of Poland, on 6 Nov 1524 in Dresden.1 (Magdalene of Saxony Wettin was born on 7 Mar 1507 and died on 28 Jan 1534.) Joachim next married Hedwig of Poland, daughter of Sigismund I of Poland and Barbara Zápolya, on 1 Sep 1535. (Hedwig of Poland was born on 25 Mar 1513 and died on 7 Feb 1573.) |
