Another name for Karl was Charles Habsburg-Lotharingen. General Notes: He was a member of the House of Habsburg-Lorraine. He gained the title of Erzherzog von Österreich (styled as HI&RH Archduke of Austria). He was baptised with the name of Karl Ludwig Johann Josef Lorenz. He held the office of Stadtholder of the Netherlands in 1793. He gained the rank of Field Marshal in 1796 in the service of the Austrian Army. He held the office of Governor-General of the Kingdom of Bohemia between 1800 and 1809. He held the office of Minister of War [Austrian Empire] between 1805 and 1809. He fought in the Napoleonic Wars, where he lead his army against Napoleon. He was created 1st Herzog von Teschen on 10 February 1822. Noted events in his life were: • He was a Duke of Teschen. Karl married Henriette Alexandrine von Nassau-Weilburg on 15 Sep 1815 in Weilburg, Germany.
