  General Notes:

Robert was the third son of duke Hugh IV and Yolande of Dreux.

Robert ended the practice of giving away parts of the Burgundian estate to younger sons and as dowries to the daughters. From then on, the whole duchy, however already diminished by earlier dowries, passed unfragmented to the eldest son.

  Noted events in his life were:

• Acceded: Duke of Burgundy, 1272.

• He was a King of Thessalonica.


Robert married Agnès of France, daughter of Louis IX of France Capet and Marguerite of Provence Berenger, in 1279. (Agnès of France was born in 1260 and died on 19 Dec 1327 in Chateau de Lantenay.)
