  • Born: Apr 1461, Genappe, Brabant, Belgium
  • Marriage: Peter II of Beaujeu de Bourbon on 3 Nov 1473
  • Died: 14 Nov 1522, Saint-Vincent-de-Salers aged 61

Other names for Anne were Anne de Beaujeu and Anne de France.

  General Notes:

Anne de France (or Anne de Beaujeu) was a Princess and Regent of the Kingdom of France.

The eldest daughter of Louis XI, she was married at the age of twelve to Pierre de Beaujeu, who later became Duke of Bourbon.

During the minority of Charles VIII, her brother, she held the regency from 1483–1491, together with her husband. She maintained, against the Orleans party, the royal authority and the unity of the kingdom.

She made the final treaty ending the Hundred Years' War.

She married her brother, Charles VIII, to Anne of Brittany in order to take Brittany to the French crown.

Her only daughter, Susan of Bourbon, married another Bourbon, Charles of Montpensier, Constable of France and Duke of Bourbon, but remained childless and predeceased her mother. When Anne herself died, her own line and that of her father went extinct.

Her heir-general was her aunt's descendant, Anne of Laval, married with Lord of La Tremoille. 1

Anne married Peter II of Beaujeu de Bourbon, son of Charles I de Bourbon and Agnes de Bourgogne, on 3 Nov 1473. (Peter II of Beaujeu de Bourbon was born on 1 Dec 1438 and died on 10 Dec 1503.)

  Marriage Notes:

They had a son Charles, Count of Clermont, but he died as an unmarried young man and Peter was succeeded by his daughter Suzanne and his son-in-law Charles of Bourbon-Montpensier.
