On 31 December 1803 Hans bought the Boslet Østre (bnr. 2) farm in Askim by auction for 702 rdl. 2 mrk. He turned it over to his son, Syver, in July 1836.

Hans died as a pensioner [føderådsmann] on Boslet in 1838, 79 years old.

• He was an artillary-man [artillerist] in 1787.

Hans married Anne Syversdatter, daughter of Syver Erichsen Qvachestad and Gunhild Thorersdatter, on 4 Oct 1787 in Askim, Østfold, Norway.¹ (Anne Syversdatter was born in 1767, died on 26 Feb 1828 in Boslet, Askim, Østfold, Norway and was buried on 5 Mar 1828.)

When they married they were recorded as Hans Nielsen nedre Gudim og pige Anne Syversdatter nedre Gudim.

In 1801 the family was living as cottagers with land on the Gudim Nedre farm in Askim. Hans was 40 and Anne was 33 years old. They had five children then. ^{1 3}
