Ingibjorg "Earls' Mother" Finnsdottir 1 2
- Marriage (1): Thorfinn the Black Sigurdsson before 1038
- Marriage (2): Malcolm III, King of Scotland about 1066
- Died: Bef 1070
General Notes:
Widow of the Earl of Orkney.
Malcolm III Canmore (1058-93) came to the throne by disposing of his rivals and thereafter sought, in five unsuccessful raids, to extend his kingdom into northern England. Whereas his first wife, Ingibjorg, was the daughter of a Norse earl of Orkney, his second, Margaret, came from the Saxon royal house of England.
Ingibjorg married Thorfinn the Black Sigurdsson, son of Sigurd "the Stout" Hlodvirsson and Daughter Of Scotland, before 1038. (Thorfinn the Black Sigurdsson was born in 1009 and died in 1064.)
Ingibjorg next married Malcolm III, King of Scotland, son of Duncan I of Scotland and Sybil, about 1066. (Malcolm III, King of Scotland was born circa 1031 and died on 13 Nov 1093 near Alnwick, Northumberland, England.)
