In the census for 1900 Hans was widowed and living with his son August and his family on the Baastad farm (Gnr 166, Bnr 2) in Trøgstad. He was called a "Kapitalist" and a partner in the farmwork.

  Noted events in his life were:

• He was a farmer and farmowner [Gaardbr Selveier] in 1865 in Baastad Søndre, Trøgstad, Østfold, Norway.

Hans married Inger Larsdatter. (Inger Larsdatter was born circa 1828 in Trøgstad, Østfold, Norway and died before 1901.)

  Marriage Notes:

In the 1865 census Hans and Inger owned and farmed the Baastad Søndre farm in Trøgstad. They had 3 daughters and 3 sons with them. Also with them was 70 year old Inger Torgersdatter, also born in Trøgstad and pensioned [Føderaadskone].
