Jens married Emilie Johansdatter, daughter of Johan Andersen Bjerknes Baastad and Sofie Christiansdatter Aarstad. (Emilie Johansdatter was born on 1 Dec 1860 in Trøgstad, Østfold, Norway, christened on 26 Dec 1860 in Trøgstad, Østfold, Norway, died on 22 Nov 1913 and was buried in Trøgstad church, Trøgstad, Østfold, Norway.)

  Marriage Notes:

In the census for 1900 Jens and Emilie were living at Melkekondenseringsfabrikkens pensionat in Toten, Oppland. With them were their two daughters, Borghild and Ingrid Sofie, and their fosterdaughter, Signe Aasta Holter. Signe Aasta was Emilie's deceased sister's daughter.

They were living on the Skrammerud farm in Trøgstad in October 1908 when Borghild was confirmed. ^{2 5}
