Another name for Boleslaw was BOLESLAV POBOZNÝ. General Notes: BOLESLAV THE PIOUS, prince of Bohemia (967-999), the son and successor of Boleslav I. He successfully continued his father's work by further consolidating the supremacy of the Czechs over the other Bohemian tribes and by founding monasteries, nunneries, and capitular churches. Noted events in his life were: • Acceded: Duke of Bohemia, 967. Boleslaw married Elgiva of England, daughter of Edward I the Elder of Wessex and Kent and Ælflaeda. Boleslaw next married Hemma of Saxony. (Hemma of Saxony was born circa 930 in Prague, Czechoslovakia and died in 1006.) |
