John George III of Saxony Wettin 1
General Notes: John George III was born in 1647 to the house of Wettin. He was the Elector of Saxony, one of the electors of the Holy Roman Empire. His tropps defeated the Turks at Vienna which marked the end of their invasion in Europe. Noted events in his life were: • Acceded: Elector of Saxony, 1680. John married Anne Sophia of Denmark Oldenburg, daughter of Frederick III of Denmark Oldenburg and Sophia Amalia of Brunswick, on 19 Oct 1666. (Anne Sophia of Denmark Oldenburg was born on 11 Sep 1647 and died on 1 Jul 1717.) |
