General Notes: After King Frederik's death in 1972 Ingrid continued to serve as the patron of many charities and pursued her hobbies, including gardening and needlework. She was beloved in Denmark for her quiet dignity and down-to-earth approach to her royal duties. Noted events in her life were: • She was a Princess of Sweden. Ingrid married Frederick IX Oldenburg, son of Christian X Oldenburg and Alexandrine of Mecklenburg-Schwerin, on 24 May 1935 in Storkyrkan Cathedral, Stockholm, Sweden. (Frederick IX Oldenburg was born on 11 Mar 1899 in Sorgenfri, near Copenhagen, Denmark and died on 14 Jan 1972 in Copenhagen, Denmark.) |
