David of Huntingdon 1
General Notes: After the extinction of the senior line of the Scottish royal house in 1290 when the line of David's brother King William I ended, David's descendants were the prime candidates for the throne. The two most notable claimants to the throne, Robert Bruce and John Balliol claimed descent through David's daughters Isobel and Margaret respectively. David's son John succeeded him to the earldom. 2 Noted events in his life were: • He was an Earl of Huntingdon & Prince. David married Maud De Meschines on 26 Aug 1190 in Scotland. (Maud De Meschines was born circa 1163 in Cheshire, England and died on 6 Jan 1233.) |
