Elizabeth of Valois married Philip II of Spain, son of Charles V, Holy Roman Emperor and Isabel of Portugal, and known as Philip the Catholic. The marriage was a consequence of the Peace of Cateau-Cambrésis, 1559.

Although she did not produce him an heir, they had two daughters, Isabella Clara Eugenia (December 8, 1566 Segovia – December 12, 1633 Brussels) and Catherine Micaela (October 10, 1567 – November 6, 1597). 2

Elizabeth married Philip II of Spain Habsburg, son of Charles V of Spain Habsburg and Isabella of Portugal, in 1559 in Toledo, Spain. (Philip II of Spain Habsburg was born on 21 May 1527 in Valladolid, Spain and died on 13 Sep 1598 in El Escorial Palace, Madrid, Spain.)


  Marriage Notes:

Philip and Elizabeth had 2 daughters named Isabella Clara Eugenia and Catherine Micaela. The marriage was a consequence of the Peace of Cateau-Cambrésis, an agreement reached between Elizabeth I of England and Henry II of France on April 2 and between Henry II and Philip II of Spain on April 3, 1559, at Cateau-Cambrésis that ended the Italian Wars. 2
