Another name for Dorothea was Dorothea von Hohenzollern. General Notes: The "royal authority" was vested in her after the death of her first husband, Christoffer III of Bavaria. She contrasigned and authorized the decisions made by the Council of State which reigned the country. Later same year she married the new king Christian I of Oldenborg and often acted as regent during his many many warfares. She also had Abrahamstrup, Kalundborg, Lolland-Falster Slesvig and Holsten, Närke and Värmland (Sweden) as security for loans she granted her husband. Later regent for son, Frederik, (later king) in the Dukedoms. Dorothea married Christopher III of Bavaria von Neumarkt, son of John von Neumarkt and Catherine of Pomerania, on 12 Sep 1445. (Christopher III of Bavaria von Neumarkt was born on 26 Feb 1416 and died on 6 Jan 1448 in Hälsingborg, Denmark [now in Sweden].) Dorothea next married Christian I of Denmark Oldenburg, son of Dietrich von Oldenburg and Hedwig von Holstein, on 26 Oct 1449. (Christian I of Denmark Oldenburg was born in 1426 and died on 21 May 1481 in Copenhagen, Denmark.) |
