General Notes:
Immigrant: 1854/1855 Shipped on Charles Buck out of Liverpool piloted by Captain Smally. He arrived in New Orleans about March 14, 1855. He was a pioneer in Utah by 07.09.1855. (The book "Pioneers and Prominent Men of Utah" states: He came to Utah September 7, 1855, Noah T. Guymon company.)
Andrew was a Mormon and a polygamist. He had 3 wives. Ellen and Johanna, two of his 3 wives, were also sisters.
The following an excerpt from a biographical sketch by Lavawn Richard Owen, 1957, included to help explain Andrew's name changes. (dla)
"Andrew Arne Anderson changed his name twice after arriving in Zion. He was apparently onfused relative to the name he should use for doing temple work. He first used his father's surname of Arensen. Then, later he felt as if he should use the surname by which he was Christened, i.e. Anders Monsen. His father's first or given name was Mons and it is the custom in Norway for the child to use the father's first name as his surname. When he went to be sealed to his parents there was another change. His mother, Ingar Marie Olsen, had been married first to a man by the name of Anders Arvesen, who died. They had one child, a daughter, named Anne Maria Anderson. Andrew Anderson was apparently told by the temple authorities that his mother must be sealed to her first husband and that the mother had the right of the children born to her second husband, Mons Arnesen. So Andrew was sealed to his mother, Ingar Maria Olsen, and her first husband, Anders Arvesen, and therefore took the first name of the man to whom he was sealed as a son, as was the custom in Norway, and added the SEN to make his surname "ANDERSEN". He changed his first name from "Anders" to "Andrew" At a later date the middle name of "Arne" was introduced. This happened to be the first part of the surname of his real father."
Note: Andrew will spell his name Andrew Anderson, with an son on the end rather than sen. DLA was not sure when this change happened, and not sure what is the correct spelling of Arensen. He had seen it as Arnesen also. (dla 1997)
The Pedigree Chart made for David Lawrence Anderson by Marilyn Gannon, 1998, states Andrews death date as November 17, 1915. She said his name should be spelled Andersen. (dla).
Anders married Alice Brooks on 3 Sep 1857.
Anders next married Ellen Hogenson on 3 May 1864.
Anders next married Johanna Hakansson on 9 May 1870 in Salt Lake, Utah, USA. (Johanna Hakansson was born on 29 Sep 1841 in Eslov, Malmohus, Sweden and died on 29 Aug 1911 in Imbler, Union, Oregon, USA.)
