  Research Notes:

In the census for 1865 there was a Thorsten Thorstensen, 30 years old, unmarried, born in Eidskog, Hedmark, and living on the Magnordmoen farm in Eidskog. His father was Thorsten Johnsen. Thorsten Thorstensen must be the same person as Thorsten Johnsen. 2

  Noted events in his life were:

• He was a shoemaker [skomager] in 1865 in Eidskogen, Hedmark, Norway.

• He was a master shoemaker [Skomagermester] in 1900 in Fredrikstad, Østfold, Norway.


Thorstein married Johanne Sofie Nilsen, daughter of Niels Olsen and Oleane Johnsdatter. (Johanne Sofie Nilsen was born on 17 May 1832 in Greåker, Tune, Østfold, Norway and was christened on 17 Jun 1832 in Tune, Østfold, Norway.)


  Marriage Notes:

In the census for 1900 Thorstein and Sofie lived at Kasernegade 50 in Fredrikstad. They had two children with them: Theodor and Clara. The census shows three outbuildings at the address: "Skomagerværksted, bryggerhus og vedskur" [shoemaker's shop, washhouse and woodshed]. 1
