General Notes: Edgiva of Kent, or also Eadgifu (890? - August 25, 968) was the third wife of Edward the Elder, King of England. She became the mother of two sons, Edmund and Edred, and a few daughters. Edgiva survived Edward for many years, dying in the reign of her grandson Edgar. Edgiva married Edward I the Elder of Wessex and Kent, son of Alfred the Great of Wessex & Kent and Ealhswith of the Gaini. (Edward I the Elder of Wessex and Kent was born in 869, died on 17 Jul 924 3 and was buried in Winchester, Hampshire, England.) |
