Another name for Olav was Olav V von Schleswig-Holstein-Sonderburg-Glücksburg. General Notes: OLAV ALEXANDER EDWARD CHRISTIAN FREDERIK king of Norway, succeeding his father, King Haakon VII. His original name, Alexander Edward Christian Frederik, was changed to Olav when he arrived in Norway in 1905 on the arm of his father. Olav married Märtha Sophie Louise Bernadotte, daughter of Charles of Sweden Bernadotte and Ingeborg Charlotte of Denmark Oldenburg, on 21 Mar 1929 in Oslo Cathedral, Oslo, Norway. (Märtha Sophie Louise Bernadotte was born on 28 Mar 1901 in Stockholm, Sweden and died on 5 Apr 1954 in State Hospital, Oslo, Norway.) |
