General Notes: She was a daughter of Ragnvald (Rogvolod (Russian), Rahvalod (Belarusian)) of Polotsk, a wife of Vladimir the Great of Kiev, and mother of Yaroslav I the Wise and Iziaslav. Noted events in her life were: • She was a Princess. Rogneda married Vladimir I Svyatoslavich the Holy of Kiev, son of Svyatoslav I Igoryevich of Kiev and Matuscha. The marriage ended in divorce. (Vladimir I Svyatoslavich the Holy of Kiev was born circa 956 in Kiev, Kievan Rus [now in Ukraine], christened in 989 and died on 15 Jul 1015 in Berestova, near Kiev.) |
