General Notes: The son of King Malcolm III Canmore (reigned 1058-93), Alexander succeeded to the throne upon the death of his brother King Edgar (ruled 1097-1107). In accordance with Edgar's instructions, Alexander allowed his younger brother and heir, David, to rule southern Scotland. Noted events in his life were: • Acceded: 1107. King of Scotland. Alexander married Sybilla of England, daughter of Henry I Beauclerc of England and Lady Sibyl Corbet, circa 1107. (Sybilla of England was born circa 1092 in Domfront, Normandy and died on 12 Jul 1122 in Island of the Woman, Loch Tay.) Alexander next married. |
