Other names for Mstislav were Mstislav I Vladimirovich of Kiev and Harald Valdemarsson. General Notes: During his reign (1113-25) Vladimir tried to restore unity to the lands of Kievan Rus; and his sons (Mstislav, reigned 1125-32; Yaropolk, 1132-39; Vyacheslav, 1139; and Yury Dolgoruky, 1149-57) succeeded him eventually, though not without some troubles in the 1140s. Noted events in his life were: • He was employed 1088-1093 and 1097-1117. Prince of Novgorod • He was employed from 1093 to 1094. Prince of Rostov. • He was employed from 1117 to 1125. Prince of Belgorod • Acceded: 1125. Grand Prince of Kiev. Mstislav married Christina Ingesdotter, daughter of Inge I the Elder of Sweden Stenkilsson and Helena of Sweden, in 1095. (Christina Ingesdotter died on 18 Jan 1122.) Mstislav next married Ljubava Saviditsch in 1122. (Ljubava Saviditsch died in 1167.) |
