Cause of her death was childbirth. Other names for Eadgifu were Edgifu, Ogiva and Edgiva of England. General Notes: When Louis's father, Charles III the Simple, was imprisoned in 923, his mother, Eadgifu, daughter of the Anglo-Saxon king Edward the Elder, took Louis to England. Eadgifu married Charles III the Simple of France, son of Louis the Stammerer of France and Adelheid of Friuli, in 919. (Charles III the Simple of France was born on 17 Sep 879, died on 7 Oct 929 in Péronne, Somme, France and was buried in L'abbaye de St-Fursy, Péronne, Somme, France.) Eadgifu next married Herbert the Elder of Meaux, son of Herbert II of Vermandois and Luitgard of Paris, in 951 in St Quentin, France.
