General Notes: Smyth says she died in 902. Research Notes: daughter of Aethelred Mucill, who is called ealdorman of the Gaini, a folk who dwelt in Lincolnshire about Gainsborough. She was the granddaughter of a former King of Mercia. 2 Noted events in her life were: • Interred: Winchester Cathedral, London, England. Ealhswith married Alfred the Great of Wessex & Kent, son of AEthelwulf of England and Osburh of Wight, in 868 in Winchester, Hampshire, England. (Alfred the Great of Wessex & Kent was born in 849 in Wantage, Dorset, England, died on 28 Oct 899 and was buried in 1112 in Hyde 3.) |
