General Notes: Edward "the Elder" was an adult in 894. With his concubine Egwyn he had a son Etherstan who became king of England. He was married a second time, with Edgiva. They had two sons, Edred and Edmund I who also became kings of England. Noted events in his life were: • Acceded: King of England, 25 Oct 899. Edward married Ecgwyn. (Ecgwyn died circa 901 5.) Edward next married Ælflaeda, daughter of Æthelhelm and Elswitha, in 901. (Ælflaeda died in 920.) Edward next married Edgiva of Kent, daughter of Sigehelm and Unknown. (Edgiva of Kent was born circa 890 and died on 25 Aug 968.) |
