When they married Christian was 25 years old and from the Faugli farm. His father was recorded as Jens Hansen. Helene was 21 years old and from the Haugen farm. Her father was Mathis Olsen.

In 1865 they were living on the Fauglid farm in Trøgstad with his parents, who owned the farm. Christian was 35 years old and Helene was 30. They had four children then. Christian was listed as "Afgiftbruger". 1
