General Notes:
Mark graduated in 1965 from West Seattle High School in Seattle. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Fisheries in 1969 and Master of Science degree in 1974, both from the University of Washington.
He and his wife, Judy, served in the Peace Corps from 1969 to 1971 in Truk (Chuuk) District of the Trust Territory of the Pacific Islands (now Federated States of Micronesia). He worked as a Research Technologist at the University of Washington Department of Pharmacology until 1973, when he joined Washington Department of Fisheries as a fisheries biologist. He spent 18 years at WDF, rising to the position of Assistant Director for Marine Fish. In January 1992, he became a private consultant, then joined the environmental consulting firm of Shapiro and Associates, Inc. in September 1992 as a Senior Fisheries Biologist. He was promoted to Executive Vice President of the company in 2001.
He is active in Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, and is past President of the Norwegian Commercial Club in Seattle. Hobbies include tropical fish, landscaping, and fishing.
