Other names for Hans were Hans Christofersen and Hans Christophersen. General Notes: Hans was a cottager on the Kjellegård (u. Nordre Rom) farm in Askim until into the 1820's. He worked the Kykkelsruddalen in Askim during the 1830's and 1840's. He was married with Kari Hansdatter and with Berte Paulsdatter (born ca 1795, Skiptvet). Research Notes: In the census for 1801 there was one Hans Christophersen who was 12 years old. This is probably the same person since the only other Hans Christophersen in that census was 4 years old. In 1801 Hans was living with his cottager parents and his siblings on the Vestbye Østre farm in Spydeberg. 5 Noted events in his life were: • He was a miller [møller]. Hans married Kari Hansdatter. (Kari Hansdatter died before Oct 1829.) Hans next married Berte Paulsdatter, daughter of Povel Bergersen and Ingeborg Fredriksdatter, on 29 Oct 1833 in Askim church, Askim, Østfold, Norway.1 (Berte Paulsdatter was born circa 1795 in Skiptvet, Østfold, Norway, died on 13 May 1873 in Grønli u. Øvre Rud, Askim, Østfold, Norway and was buried on 25 May 1873.) Marriage Notes: They were not married when their son Ole was baptised in November 1829. Hans was a widower by then. |
