   Another name for Johan was Martin Blunkeslet.

  General Notes:

Johan Martin and Maren were cottagers on the Sekkelstenhytta farm in Askim in 1862, when their daughter Karoline Matea was born. They were cottagers on "Føskhytten Nedre" (u. Fusk) in 1865.

In 1875 he took over the Elvestad (u. Oraug) farm. In 1877 he took over the Romstangen farm and bought it in 1882 for 2600 kr. We find them there in the 1880's.

In about 1890 Johan Martin Jensen farmed the land on the Hauger farm. He bought the Blunkeslett (u. Henstad) farm in Askim in 1891 for 6325 kr. Later his sons Ole and Anders ran the farm until 1913 when it was sold for 12 000 kr.

  Research Notes:

His year of birth is also recorded as 1832 and as ca 1838. The 1865 census shows him as 27 years old. The 1900 census shows his year of birth as 1839.

His marriage record of January 1862 records his age as 22. He was from the Løvestad farm in Spydeberg. His father was Jens Mathisen of the Kjæsplads farm in Skiptvet.

• He was a farmer and farmowner [Gaardbr. s] in 1900 in Blunkeslett, Askim, Østfold, Norway.


Johan married Maren Syversdatter, daughter of Syver Olsen and Unknown, on 9 Jan 1862 in Askim, Østfold, Norway.1 (Maren Syversdatter was born in 1837 in Nord-Mysen, Eidsberg, Østfold, Norway, died on 6 May 1908 in Blunkeslett, Askim, Østfold, Norway and was buried on 14 May 1908.)


  Marriage Notes:

In 1865 they were cottagers with land on the Fuskhytten nedre farm in Askim. Johan M was 27 and Maren was 29 years old in the census. They had three children with them: Caroline (4), Syver (2), and a fosterdaughter Maren S. Pedersdatter (9, born in Eidsberg).

In the census for 1900 they owned and farmed the Blunkeslet farm in Askim. They had three sons with them, all unmarried: Ole, Martin and Anders. They also had a grandchild with them, Paula Kristine Hoel, born in 1897 in Askim. 3 5
