... på Halstvet i Eidsberg. During the 1865 census Jørgen lived on the Halsthvedt farm in Eidsberg with his father. He was 31 years old, unmarried, and was called a farm labourer [Lændsearbeider].

Jørgen took over the Høitorp og Østhøitorp (Torphytta) farm in Askim after his parents-in-law in 1866. He was a cottager there until 1892 when he got the deed to half the farm for 215 kr.

His marriage record states that he was born on the Basterud farm in Tune and that he was on Halstvedt in Eidsberg when he married.

• He was a timber raftsman [tømmerfløter].
