Another name for Thea was Thea Østby.

  General Notes:

She is possibly the daughter of Ole Hansen (ca 1813) from Trøgstad and Johanna Andersdatter (ca 1812) from Rakkestad. If so, she had at least four brothers: Laurits (ca 1840), August (ca 1851), Carl (ca 1854), and Olaus (ca 1856) Olsen. In the census for 1865 this family were cottagers with land on the Bakker farm in Askim. 3

  Research Notes:

In the census for 1900 Thea was a widow and lived on the Østby farm in Spydeberg with two of her children, both unmarried: Maren and Ole. Her birth is listed as 1840 in Trøgstad. When she died it was recorded that she was born in Trøgstad in 1841. I cannot locate a Thea Olsdatter in the baptism records for Trøgstad in 1840 or '41. 4

Noted events in her life were:

• She was a handicraft weaver [Husflidsarbeider væverske] in 1900 in Østby, Spydeberg, Østfold, Norway.

Thea married Johannes Petersen Østby, son of Peter Petersen Østby and Helene Hansdatter. (Johannes Petersen Østby was born on 8 Oct 1830 in Tullebekk, Spydeberg, Østfold, Norway, christened on 17 Oct 1830 in Hovin kapell, Spydeberg, Østfold, Norway, died on 17 Aug 1883 in Østby, Østre Huseby, Spydeberg, Østfold, Norway and was buried on 24 Aug 1883 in Spydeberg, Østfold, Norway.)
