In the census for 1900 he owned and farmed one (bnr. 6) of the Eiebakke farms in Askim. He was widowed and had his unmarried daughter Karoline with him. There was also a Karen Kristensdatter helping at the farm, born in 1831 in Eidsberg. Karen was possibly Karl's sister.

Karl married Maria Andersdatter, daughter of Anders Gundersen and Berte Halvorsdatter, on 22 Feb 1864 in Askim, Østfold, Norway.1 (Maria Andersdatter was born on 2 Sep 1826 in Eiebakke, Askim, Østfold, Norway, christened on 10 Sep 1826 in Askim, Østfold, Norway, died on 11 Nov 1893 in Eiebakke, Askim, Østfold, Norway and was buried on 21 Nov 1893 in Askim, Østfold, Norway.)


  Marriage Notes:

Karl and Maria farmed the Eiebakke søndre farm in Askim from 1863. Karl got the deed to the farm for 1350 spdl. with the division of Maria's father's inheritance in 1868.

In the census for 1865 they lived with Maria's parents and worked on her father's farm, Eiebakke søndre in Askim. They had their 2 year old daughter Caroline with them. 6
