August was from Trøgstad. He bought the Huset (bnr. 4 u. Slengebråte) farm in Askim on 21 January 1904 for 4450 kr. He farmed it until 1915 when he transferred the farm to his son, Jens Huset.

  Research Notes:

His gravestone shows his birthdate as 8. Feb. 1843. This is also the date recorded when he was confirmed. At his confirmation his parents are recorded as Torer Torersen og Gunild Brynildsdatter.

In the census for 1865 there was only one August Thorersen in Trøgstad. He was 23 years old, unmarried, and at that time was a shoemaker and a lodger on the Aasrud farm.

August married Johanne Johansdatter, daughter of Johan Iversen Grefslibraaten and Unknown, on 11 May 1881 in Trøgstad, Østfold, Norway.¹ (Johanne Johansdatter was born on 30 May 1857 in Grefslibraaten, Trøgstad, Østfold, Norway, died on 22 May 1936 and was buried in Trøgstad church, Trøgstad, Østfold, Norway.)
